Dr. Amit is an expert in the field of Neurology and Stroke and is currently one of the leading doctors of the Department of Neurology & Stroke at Sagar Hospitals, Jayanagar and Banashankari. He excels in the treatment of all types of neurological conditions, such as Headache, Epilepsy, Parkinson’s disease and movement disorders, along with Multiple Scelorosis and other demyelinating disorders. He is also one of the pioneers in introducing Neurosonology to Karnataka as well as India as an integral part of stroke treatment. His main clinical and research interests include managing acute stroke and multi-modality rehabilitation following stroke.
He has trained extensively in the administration of Botox injections in various neurological conditions such as cervical dystonia, blepharospasm, hemifacial spasm, chronic migraine and in post-stroke spasticity. He is also trained in the work-up for deep brain stimulation (DBS).
He has conducted live TCD (Transcranial Doppler) workshops, CMEs and other training programs at international and national forums and is a regular teaching faculty for Stroke, Neurology and Neurosonology at conferences across the country. Dr. Amit serves as the Hon. Secretary for the Bangalore Stroke Support Group, a non-profit, service oriented organisation consisting of Neurologists and Physical, Occupational, and Speech therapists.

‘A Randomised Clinical Trial For Evaluating The Safety And Feasibility Of Intensive
Lowering Of BP In Acute Ischemic Stroke Patients Treated With Intravenous Thrombolysis’.
I was a part of this study being conducted at NUH. 32 patients were recruited till Nov
2015.The study is ongoing. I was responsible for analysing serial CT perfusion data.
‘Evaluation of plaque characteristics, plaque inflammation and embolic potential with high
resolution cerebrovascular ultrasound, high resolution MRI and PET imaging in ischemic
stroke patients with symptomatic carotid stenosis.’ This is an ongoing study at NUH. I was
responsible for performing high resolution carotid Duplex, transcranial Doppler with emboli monitoring and vasomotor reactivity for the recruited patients.
